HD Letter to Parents September 2018
Dear parents and carers,
A very warm welcome to the new academic year!
We have a lot to be proud of in the achievements of our pupils this summer. I am immensely proud that every Year 13 pupil secured a place, if they wanted one, at the higher education institution of their choice. I know you will join me in wishing them every success in this next stage of their journey.
Key stages 3 and 4 also ‘did us proud’ with their achievements. Year 11 results were only slightly below the very challenging targets we set for them - it proves to us that ‘Aiming for Excellence’ is the best way to secure the best results throughout the school. On results days there were so many individual success stories to tell. I am delighted that almost half of Year 11 have chosen to return to our Sixth form to continue their studies. The future looks very bright for them all as they are supported to ensure they are doing the right subjects, in the right combination.
We welcome the new year seven - all settling in so well already, and enjoying the ‘Chromebook’ trial that they are participating in. They are coming to school, equipped to do their very best at this new stage in their lives. I hope it wasn’t too difficult for you, as parents and carers, to let them have that next level of independence that High School brings.
There are lots of events in this new, busy, autumn term. Please make sure you regularly visit our website to receive the information you will need. We will, of course, continue to use ‘texts to parents’ to let you know important information.
We have had a few ‘glitches’ in the national IT system that we use in school. This is now sorted, so we ask you to make sure you update us with any personal information such as mobile numbers and change of addresses. It is vital that, in an emergency, we can contact you without any delay.
We very much look forward to continuing to work with you over the next year. With your support I know we can expect great things from our students. We will certainly be working hard to make sure this is the case.
