Know your Lemons

As part of the exciting and new Health and Wellbeing curriculum at Lewis Girls’ School, all pupils have received a special assembly this week relating to the internationally renowned ‘Know your Lemons’ campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to educate young people on the TWELVE signs of breast cancer, with the objective of sharing this information with parents, grandparents and wider family members.

Dawn Wilson, an inspirational speaker and campaigner addressed all girls this week and shared her journey with breast cancer. Over the coming weeks, Dawn will work with our girls to help them identify the twelve signs of breast cancer.

Ms Dent, Health and Wellbeing Lead at LGS said,

“This is an incredibly important campaign for our all girl demographic and one we are honoured to be associated with. At some point in our lives, we will all know someone that has been affected by breast cancer. As such, it is particularly important to empower our girls so they are aware of the twelve signs of breast cancer. The evidence clearly demonstrates that if breast cancer is caught early, it is completely curable”.
